creative production

Whether you’re looking for someone to run a one-off photoshoot, or someone who can help you turn a complex, multi-strand, multi-discipline, cross platform endeavour into a successful project, with a great creative outcome that everyone has enjoyed working on, you’re in the right place.

I’m not one of those corporate account manager types. I’m a creative producer, who is very much a ‘people person’ and who is also a practicing creative.

I help make things and make things happen.

I know what it takes to ensure projects run on time and to budget, but my skills as a producer go much further than that and cut across a range of art forms for contemporary art, public realm, arts and heritage, arts and health, outdoor arts, theatre, digital, community, creative learning and publishing projects.

In addition to extensive experience of creative co-production involving freelance contractors, artists of all disciplines and production staff, I have lots of experience in taking an asset-based approach to developing and delivering creative and cultural activities.

If you want to create new work, develop existing work, attract new audiences, develop more meaningful relationships with your existing audiences, or engage communities in activating and redeveloping spaces, I’ll take a practical, empowering, pragmatic and collaborative approach to help make it happen.

In addition to engaging with Fable Arts as powerful advocates for the cultural and creative industries we have commissioned Alex to provide writing services and consultant support on numerous related programmes and initiatives. Creative and persuasive writing is key to transforming vision and ideas into powerful and compelling words that make people listen and act.

Beautiful, meaningful words encourage, transport, inspire, and sell. On their strength, communities can pull together, history can be brought back to life, memories rewritten, stories believed, campaigns won, customers influenced and audiences enthralled.

As a published poet and copywriter, writing and editing credible and creative content is the bastion of my day to day. Strong narratives are my speciality.  From scripts and soundscapes, to poems and press releases, punchy advertising copy and carefully crafted features, to funding bids and corporate reports. Take a look at the links below to read more about my writing practice and the individual writing services on offer.

Though the media landscape is changing, traditional PR still commands the attention of journalists and generates significant reach. Cultivating friendly media contacts and supplying them with potential quality editorial material is always a good strategy. With over twenty years of creating and delivering PR strategies for sectors, I can guarantee newsworthy content and good cross platform coverage.

 Bid Writing

As an experienced and successful bid writer and fundraiser, I have a strong understanding of the arts funding system in the UK and additional significant skills and experience in fundraising from the corporate sector for arts and creative based projects.

I know how to write tailored, targeted and compelling bids that match the requirements and priorities of the funder and stay true to your creative vision and objectives. These include arts specific funds, heritage funds, charitable trusts and community foundations; Local Authorities, commercial companies and commercial business support organisations.

I can also provide support in consulting with stakeholders to ensure your project and your funding bid meet their needs as well as yours, and help you lobby partners to ensure you get that all important match funding.

If you'd like to discuss how I might be able to help you write funding bids, please get in touch. The level of help is up to you: it varies from writing a bid outright to commenting on and editing a draft application you have written. My rates depend on the size of your organisation and the length of the application, so please don't be afraid to ask for a quote.
